Over heating of laptops is one major issue that most of users
face. Rapid increase in hardware and computing capabilities of laptop have
resulted in a lot of exhaust heat to be
produced. If not dealt the right way, this over heating can cause a lot damage
ranging from automatically shutting down of laptops to permanent damage to the
hardware which sometimes may not be repairable. But there are steps you can
follow to avoid such incidents. But first we should peek at the causes of overheating.
Causes
- Normally reasons that result in over heating of laptops are
- Clogged ventilation or dust blocking exhaust ports.
- Thermal compound between the heat sink and the CPU.
- Various computer programs such as games and extra utilization of memory may lead to overheating.
- Using the laptop in a bad location.
Steps To Avoid Over
Heating
Place Your Laptop on a
Hard Flat surface
Most of the laptops suck air from the bottom and have a
exhaust port at the right side. So placing your laptop on an uneven surface
such as a pillow or a mattress disturbs the flow of air in to the laptop. Less intake
of air means your laptop is not being properly cooled. To avoid this you can
place your laptop on a flat surface. Even better if you elevate your laptop
from both sides by placing books or anything else. This will give sufficient
space for your laptop suck enough air for cooling purposes. But make sure your
intake grills are not covered.
Buy a Laptop Cooler
Buying a laptop cooler can ensure heat reduction and it is
best if you invest in it because they are specially designed and are not very
expensive. But be careful you need to pick the right cooler for your laptop.
There are two types of laptop coolers
Suck in air from the bottom and blow upward for cooling.
- Suck air away from the laptop.
- Such coolers can lead to complications and even worsen the cooling process.
If the intake grills of your laptop are at the bottom then
buy a cooler of first type.
Clean the Fan And
Exhaust Port
You can clean your laptop fan on monthly basis. You just need
to follow these steps.
Remove the battery and open your laptop from the back. Take a
piece of cotton and dip it in alcohol. Now carefully clean the fan with alcohol
dipped cotton. Don’t close the fan until you see that alcohol has completely
evaporated. You may also use a vacuum cleaner for removing dust particles from
the fan. Similarly use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the exhaust port
which is located at the side of the laptop.
By following these simple steps you will see that you can
reduce heating o f laptops significantly.
decent bLog! its fascinating. much obliged to you for sharing.... Gabriel
