Add a Meta Tag Description in Your Post


What are Meta Tags?

Meta tags are HTML or XHTML elements used to provide structures meta data about a webpage. Meta tags do not appear to the user or reader of that webpage but are meant for search engines to categorize web pages correctly. Meta tags are snippets of your information that you have placed in the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags that are a part of the HTML document you've generated. Search engine may show this snippet when they show a page from your blog. Social networks also use this Meta tag description; Facebook share and Google plus share pick up this snippet which gets shared. How To Add Meta Tags?

In blogger it is very easy to add Meta tag description .Blogger user interface gives the option to edit Meta tags easily without adding or changing any HTML. Below are the steps how you can easily enable your Meta tags.

  •  First go to the settings from the column that appears on the left side of the blogger user interface. Then go to search preferences and in there enable Meta tags. You can write description of up to 150 words max. Write what your blog is about. Here is my meta tag description ” A Blog where you will get what ever you need. News and articles on Science &Tech, Blogging,  Sports , Health & Fitness and much more.” Settings< Search Preferences < Meta Tags.  





  •  Now when you will start writing a new post you will see a new box in the Post Settings panel to your right. Just write a short description about your post on the box.



  • And you have successfully added a meta tag.
