Evidence of Higgs Boson

In a update just received from the largest particle collider(LHC) in the world which lies  in a tunnel 27 km long, with a depth of 574 ft beneath the France-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. Two separate team of physicists at CERN have reported that they have found evidence of a new particle- a boson – as predicted by the standard model of physics. It is a particle that is believed to give matter mass, shape and size. This discovery has been possible after ten years of continuous experimenting and spending almost near to $10 billion at LHC.

Two days before, on 2nd of July Tevatron which is a circular particle accelerator in the United States, at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (also known as Fermilab), just east of Batavia, Illinois, and is the second highest energy particle collider in the world after the Large Hadron Collider, reported that it had also found evidence of the higgs boson. The evidence they found in their data didn’t answer the question of whether the Higgs particle exists, but gets closer to an answer. Fermilab's  Rob Roser, co-spokesperson for the CDF experiment said ”The Tevatron experiments accomplished the goals that we had set with this data sample Our data strongly point toward the existence of the Higgs boson, but it will take results from the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in Europe to establish a discovery."

The Tevatron results indicate that the Higgs particle, if it exists, has a mass between 115 and 135 GeV/c2, or about 130 times the mass of the proton.
The head of the CERN said that they had found a evidence of new particle whose data was consistent with the long eluded Higgs Boson commonly known as the “God Particle”. Rolf Heuer, director of the European Center for Nuclear Research, or CERN, says "we have a discovery" of a new subatomic particle, a boson, that is "consistent with a Higgs boson."

Now that both the atom smashers are claiming that they have evidence of a new particle consistent with higgs boson it seems that we have finally found the long sought “God Particle” and the standard model of physics is complete.
